Final energy consumption in Thailand is growing and recorded a total of 75,804 ktoe in 2014. In order to cope with the increasing consumption, Thailand’s Energy Policy is focusing on renewable energy to secure the country’s energy supply.

One key pillar of this strategy is to promote the development and deployment of waste-to-energy and bio-based energy (biogas, biomass, energy crops). In addition, the National Energy Policy Committee (NEPC) is driving the transformation to a feed-in-tariff (FiT) system for the power generation sector to support the renewable energy development in Thailand including biogas, biomass, energy crops, MSW, Wind and small Hydro.

To foster and accelerate the cooperation between Thai and German companies in the field of biogas, and within the framework of the “renewables – Made in Germany”- initiative supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) in cooperation with eclareon GmbH is organizing a business trip to Thailand between 08 – 12 June 2015 on the topic of “Biogas in Thailand”.

The business-trip will encompass a technology conference taking place on June 08 in Bangkok, with the GTCC being the lead organizer of this conference and featuring high-level guest speakers from German biogas companies as well as German biogas experts. In addition, the conference will feature high level representatives of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy Thailand and key utility and energy stakeholders in Thailand that are presenting the latest developments and future plans on the topic of “Biogas in Thailand”.

The aim of the conference is to discuss state of the art technology solutions in the biogas field. Thai and German experts will outline the framework conditions for doing business in Germany and Thailand, and all participating German companies will present themselves and allow for individual discussions with interested Thai companies after the conference and during the days following the event.

The conference provides a state of the art discussion platform concerning technology solutions in the field of biogas. Moreover, experts from Thailand and Germany will provide the participants with exclusive insights into how technologies are driving biogas developments as well as future renewable energy and biogas policy plans and strategies in Thailand.
